Tigers vs. Dodgers Prediction and Odds for Saturday, April 30th (Kershaw to Bully Detroit's Weak Offense)
By Matt De Saro
The Detroit Tigers appear destined to finish the season in the basement of the AL Central. The Tigers are currently 6-13 after losing six straight games. The most recent of those failures was last night in LA where the Dodgers beat them 5-1 to start off a three-game series. The Tigers are coming off an embarrassing sweep to the Twins and were hoping to turn things around. I gotta say, it’s not looking like that is the likely outcome here.
Meanwhile, things couldn’t be going much better for the Dodgers. They are 13-6, have the second-best record in the National League, and are 5-3 in their last eight games. They suffered a shameful loss to the Diamondbacks to end the week and will be hungry to make up for that embarrassing outcome.

Tigers vs. Dodgers Prediction and Pick
A quick glance at the odds for this game should give you a pretty good idea of how things are going to shake out. The Tigers are massive underdogs thanks to a pretty significant mismatch on the mound. Beau Brieske will make the second start of his career tonight against some stiff competition. Brieske was solid in his first start to be fair. He gave up three earned runs in five innings against the Rockies. However, he coughed up two home runs during the game, which was not at Coors Field.
Clayton Kershaw will get the start for LA tonight in his fourth appearance of the year. And yea, it's Clayton Kershaw. He is 3-0 with a 2.65 ERA and 0.59 WHIP. He had a rough second start against the Braves but was able to rebound nicely against the Padres.
Kershaw is a problem for any offense, but the Tigers are hitting poorly this year already. Detroit is ranked 29th in runs per game and 30th in home runs per game. This is why the 10 of the Tigers’ 12 losses this season were by at least two runs. At 7-12 ATS, they are one of the worst teams to be on the spread so far this season. Fade away.
Pick: Dodgers -1.5 (-160)
