Tigers vs. Rangers Prediction and Odds for Sunday, August 28 (Rangers Get Revenge)
By Joe Summers
Kohei Arihara hopes to build off a surprisingly strong start against Minnesota last week, throwing six shutout innings while allowing just four hits. The Texas Rangers are purely in evaluation mode, as they've cleaned house in the front office and are looking towards 2023.
With a few more stellar outings, Arihara may prove to be part of Texas' plans moving forward. He's long struggled in the major leagues but gets a winnable matchup today against the lowly Detroit Tigers.
Drew Hutchison gets the call for Detroit. Despite a 1-7 record and 4.06 ERA on the season, he's allowed just one run in back-to-back starts and has a 2.95 ERA in August. The Tigers exploded for 11 runs in yesterday's win, and a similar offensive output would likely give Hutchison the run support he seeks.
Can Detroit pull off another upset or will Arihara keep rolling? Let's check out the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook to help analyze this Tigers vs Rangers matchup:

Tigers vs Rangers Prediction and Pick
The Rangers are just 4-7 in their last 11 games as home favorites but are likely salivating to take on Drew Hutchison, whose 5.16 expected ERA is among the worst marks in MLB. Detroit has five straight losses behind Hutchison, with four of those coming on the run line as well. He's had an expected FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) above 4.00 for 12 consecutive starts, and his MLB Statcast Pitching Profile is a disaster:
That's a lot of blue! Yesterday's run bonanza notwithstanding, Detroit has the worst OPS in baseball this month and I don't expect the lineup to suddenly turn into a juggernaut. Arihara just shut down a much more potent lineup against the Twins, and he should have another solid performance today.
The Tigers are a pathetic 5-16 in their last 21 games as road underdogs, while the Rangers' offense is performing well this month. Texas should get its revenge in convincing fashion today as Hutchison continues to flail.
Pick: Rangers -1.5 (+120)
