Timberwolves vs. Thunder Prediction and Odds for Sunday, October 23 (Trust OKC as Home Dog)
By Peter Dewey
The Oklahoma City Thunder are still in search of their first win of the 2022-23 season when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday in their home opener.
OKC is coming off a tough loss to the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night, but it covered the spread for the second time in as many games.
Now, OKC is set as a nine-point dog to Karl-Anthony Towns and the Wolves on Sunday. The Wolves beat the Thunder by eight in their season opener.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been a one-man wrecking crew for the Thunder, but this is a tough task on Sunday against a defensive-minded Wolves squad now that they have Rudy Gobert. Still, Minnesota was upset in overtime by Utah in its last game.
Here are the latest odds for Sunday’s matchup:

Timberwolves vs. Thunder Prediction and Pick
If there’s one thing you can count on from this young Thunder team it is that they will play hard, and a lot of times that ends with them covering the spread.
OKC was the No. 2 team in the NBA last season against the spread, going 48-30-4, covering at a 61.5 percent rate. The Thunder were also solid as home dogs, going 19-15-4 ATS last season.
There certainly is a talent gap here, as the Wolves are a playoff-caliber team, but Minnesota is definitely beatable, even for this OKC team. The Wolves needed a 28-21 fourth quarter in their season opener to beat OKC by eight.
As long as Gilgeous-Alexander is in the lineup, the Thunder have the offense to at least hang around in this game. The fact that this spread is pushing double digits is too much for me after Minnesota lost to the Jazz on Friday.
