The Minnesota Timberwolves have been stuck in a rut recently losing five straight and six of their last eight. They will be looking to bounce back against the Portland Trail Blazer on Sunday.

The Trail Blazers are dealing with issues of their own and have lost seven of their last eight and are on a four-game losing streak. The last time we saw Portland they lost to the Golden State Warriors 104-94 on the road on Wednesday night. The Blazers were led by Normal Powell with 26 points and five assists but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Warriors. The Timberwolves, meanwhile, lost their last game out against the Cleveland Cavaliers 123-106. Karl Anthony Towns led the charge with 21 points and seven rebounds and three blocks. The team overall shot very poorly at 39 percent and that was ultimately their downfall.

Timberwolves vs. Trail Blazers Prediction and Pick

There are significant injury concerns for both teams heading into this game. The Blazers have seen their backcourt decimated by injuries with Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum out for this game. The Timberwolves will again be without D’Angelo Russell but with Lillard and McCollum out this stings a bit less.

Portland has some glaring issues on defense that I think Minnesota will be able to take advantage of tonight. Additionally, the Timberwolves have the 13th ranked defense by rating and should be able to shut this undermanned offense down. I see a game where Karl Anthony Towns goes off and leads the Timberwolves to a win here. The Trail Blazers defense is giving up 111 points per game and that number will only get worse the longer that the backcourt remains without their two best players. Anthony Edwards should also shine tonight and I expect this to be the one-two combo that KOs Portland.

Pick: Minnesota Timberwolves +115 to win
