Titans Super Bowl Odds Don’t Add Up

Back-to-back seasons with a playoff berth hasn’t translated into respect for the Tennessee Titans, as the AFC South favorite on WynnBET (-130) isn’t seeing much love in the latest odds to win the Super Bowl.

The Titans are tied with the Dallas Cowboys for the worst odds to win the Super Bowl amongst division favorites heading into Week 1, despite adding Julio Jones to an already lethal offense this offseason.

Tennessee had its issues on defense last season, allowing the fifth-most yards in the NFL, but it made a point to improve its front seven in recent months.

In addition, the Titans signed cornerback Janoris Jenkins in free agency and drafted cornerback Caleb Farley in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. They’re addressing their holes on defense, but oddsmakers still won’t give them much respect heading into the season.

Super Bowl Odds for Favorites to Win Each Division

  • Kansas City Chiefs (AFC West): +475
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NFC South): +650
  • Buffalo Bills (AFC East): +1200
  • San Francisco 49ers (NFC West co-favorite): +1200
  • Baltimore Ravens (AFC North): +1400
  • Los Angeles Rams (NFC West co-favorite): +1500
  • Green Bay Packers (NFC North): +1500
  • Dallas Cowboys (NFC East): +3000
  • Tennessee Titans (AFC South): +3000

What’s even more interesting is that the Titans seem to have an easy path to a division title. Carson Wentz might be ready for the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1 after undergoing foot surgery this offseason, but the rest of the AFC South is a work in progress.

The Houston Texans are expected to be one of the league’s worst teams, if not the worst, and the Jacksonville Jaguars are relying on rookie Trevor Lawrence and first-year head coach Urban Meyer to turn around a team that went 1-15 in 2020.

Ryan Tannehill has rejuvenated his career in Tennessee with Mike Vrabel, and he now has two of the best receivers in the game, A.J. Brown and Jones, to go with star running back Derrick Henry.

The offense is expected to be so potent that Tennessee is second on WynnBET’s odds list to lead the NFL in scoring this season at +700 odds

Yet, they find themselves as the division favorite least respected in the Super Bowl odds. Dallas is understandably at +3000 with the holes it has on defense and the questions around Dak Prescott’s health, but it feels like the Titans aren’t valued as one of the league’s better teams despite going 20-12 over the past two seasons.
