Top MLB Picks and Predictions Today (White Sox To Gain Ground In AL Central)
BetSided understands looking through games to bet on can be tough. While we have previews for every game on today, there are a few games that stand out above the rest.
The BetSided crew of Reed Wallach, Joe Summers and Josh Yourish has you covered with their favorite picks for the games today, via WynnBET Sportsbook.
Braves vs. Nationals Prediction and Pick
Of their 13 losses in 14 games, the Nationals have actually covered the run line in six of them, so it is not entirely automatic to just ride with the Braves on the run line, because of this horrid stretch by Washington. The Braves are 8-2 against Washington this year, but the Nats have covered the last three of those losses, including last night.
Patrick Corbin has lost his two starts in July, but again they have covered in both of those losses. It feels bad to bet on a team that has lost seven straight games and been even worse over the last two weeks, but a lot of signs point to a potential cover on the run line.
Ian Anderson, the starter for Atlanta has had a mixed bag of results this year, but the Braves are 11-6 in his starts this season, despite his 4.98 ERA this season. Anderson’s strikeout rate is a career low, his hard hit rate is a career high, and he is allowing a .381 weighted on base average, which is 100 points above his previous career high.
To me, the signs are pointing to a Washington cover, but I’m going to hold my nose and close my eyes to do it. – Josh Yourish
Pick: Nationals +1.5 (-120)

Phillies vs. Marlins Prediction and Pick
I'm not kidding about Sandy Alcantara being Marvel's new Iron Man. The only explanation for his incredible dominance is that he's wearing a super suit. He easily leads MLB in innings pitched while also being tied for the ERA lead. You want distance? Got it. You want shutouts? Got it.
With all due respect to Kyle Gibson, he's more like Mantis than Iron Man. If you've never heard of Mantis, that's kind of the point. I hadn't either until I just Google'd "Weakest Superheroes."
As if facing Alcantara wasn't difficult enough, the Phillies offense is really struggling. They've lost four straight and scored more than three runs just once in their last eight games.
Miami is 12-3 in its last 15 as home favorites and should win with ease today. Gibson has a 5.22 ERA on the road and has one of the league's worst defenses and bullpens backing him up.
Give me the Marlins on the run line as Alcantara continues his incredible season. I'm excited to see what kind of Marlins-colored Iron Man suit Disney comes up with, but that Miami #22 jersey will do in the meantime. – Joe Summers
Pick: Marlins -1.5 (+135)

White Sox vs. Twins Prediction and Pick
I'm banking on the White Sox to make it two straight on Friday against the division leading Twins, mainly because of their ability to rake against lefties.
Left hander Devin Smeltzer draws the start for the Twins, and while his numbers look appealing on the surface, he is primed for regression over the second half of the season. He has a 3.92 ERA, but a FIP of 5.54. Factor in that he is facing the White Sox, who have the best OPS against southpaws this season, and this can be the time to pounce.
Kopech has seen his number dip as he transitions into a full time starter role, but I like his chances against the righty heavy Twins lineup. Kopech has allowed a batting average of .156 this season against righties. If he can avoid trouble against lefties, this can be a strong outing for the White Sox starter.
I can't justify a lefty like Smeltzer being priced like this, so I'll look for the White Sox to make this two in a row on Friday. – Reed Wallach
PICK: White Sox ML +123
