Miami Marlins vs. Tampa Bay Rays Prediction and Pick

Despite getting shutout last night, the Marlins offense has been better than the Rays in the month of May. Tampa Bay has fallen down to 18th in OPS, while the Marlins rank 14th.

With that being said, it's tough to wager against Drew Rasmussen, who has been fantastic this season. Not only is his ERA at a strong number of 2.33, but his 2.74 FIP shows there's nothing fraudulent about it. He hasn't allowed more than one earned run in five straight starts, and I'm not about to bet on that streak breaking tonight.

With both offenses hovering around the middle of the pack, and the starting pitching matchup seemingly being a strong one, I think the smart play here is to back the UNDER, despite the low total.

Lean: UNDER 7 (-115) -- Iain MacMillan

Oakland Athletics vs Seattle Mariners Prediction and Pick

If you told me coming into the season that Paul Blackburn would be a better pitcher than 2021 AL Cy Young winner Robbie Ray, I wouldn't have believed you. But that's the reality we face as Blackburn continually puts Oakland in positions to in while Ray labors through tough outings.

I'd normally say the Athletics' lineup is the great equalizer, yet the A's are actually hitting southpaws well recently. They're 11th in OPS against left-handed pitchers in May and are showing real, legitimate signs of life!

Don't get too excited or anything though, because Ray has actually been decent at home. In four home starts, Ray has a 3.73 ERA and has done a better job at limiting hard contact.

However, Blackburn still gives Oakland a distinct advantage. The A's have won seven of his eight starts with their only loss coming due to a blown save. Get a pen and paper out because I've got a doozy of a stat for you. A stat so special it deserves its own paragraph. Here goes:

If you bet $100 on the Oakland moneyline in each of Paul Blackburn's eight starts this year, you'd be up $840.

That'll play! Until oddsmakers catch on, we can keep profiting. If you haven't heard the name Paul Blackburn before, get familiar. He's every sports bettors' new favorite pitcher.

Pick: Athletics (+145) -- Joe Summers

San Diego Padres vs. Milwaukee Brewers Prediction and Pick

I think we are in line for some runs on Wednesday afternoon. The Brewers have been one of the hottest teams in baseball this month, ranking fourth in slugging percentage and seventh in wRC+. They will face Yu Darvish who is still an outstanding talent, but has seen his numbers dip a bit this season, particularly strikeouts. Darvish is striking out a career low 7.2 batters per nine innings and can struggle against a disciplined Brewers team that is keen on getting runners on base.

On the other side, Milwaukee will look to keep down the Padres bats with lefty Aaron Ashby. However, San Diego is led by Machado who is leading the big leagues in hits, batting average, OPS and several other prominent categories and the team is seventh in batting average against lefties.

I don't want to step in front of the Brewers wagon right now so instead I'll look to the over with both teams in favorable spots to tag the opposing starting pitchers.

LEAN: OVER 7.5 (-110) -- Reed Wallach
