Monday's action in Major League Baseball gives us some intriguing matchups, especially in the Subway Series between the New York Yankees and New York Mets.

Julio Urias puts his 11-game win streak on the line for the Los Angeles Dodgers against the Milwaukee Brewers, and our guy Reed Wallach has a nearly 2/1 underdog play to consider tailing tonight.

Here are the top picks from the BetSided team for Aug. 22:

New York Mets vs. New York Yankees Odds, Prediction and Pick

  • Run Line: Mets -1.5 (+110) | Yankees +1.5 (-130)
  • Moneyline: Mets: -150 | Yankees: +140
  • Total: 7.5 (Over -105/Under -115)

This is a bounce-back spot for Max Scherzer after he allowed three walks which helped the Atlanta Braves plate four runs against him in his last outing. Prior to that, Scherzer had allowed two or fewer earned runs in 10 straight starts.

The Yankees’ offense has been brutal this month, ranking dead last in OPS and 26th in runs scored over the last 15 days. In their last 12 games, the Yankees have cleared three runs just two times, and while they’ve landed on three in a few outings, that’s even going to be a tough task against Scherzer.

Scherzer pitched seven innings of shutout ball against the Yankees the last time these two teams faced off, and I can’t see this offense turning things around against one of the best pitchers in baseball.

Fade the Bronx Bombers tonight.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Philadelphia Phillies Odds, Prediction and Pick

  • Run Line: Reds: +1.5 (+100) | Phillies: -1.5 (-120)
  • Moneyline: Reds: +195 | Phillies: -230
  • Total: 8.5 (Over -120/Under +100)

The Phillies are in a tricky spot on Monday. The team played four games in three days against the Mets, and Sunday's finale was particularly grueling, a game that spanned more than five hours due to a rain delay that ended in a 10-9 New York victory.

Sunday's starter Kyle Gibson pitched 4.1 innings and the Phillies had to send out six relievers to finish the game. This has been a taxing stretch for the club that could let their guard down against the Reds, who are league average in on-base percentage over the past three weeks.

It's worth noting that Noah Syndergaard made his last start against the Reds, a strong performance in which he allowed three runs on eight hits in seven innings. However, at this number I think we can see a flat spot for the home team and I'll take a shot on the road team that is hitting well lately.

LEAN: Reds ML (+195) -- Reed Wallach

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Odds, Prediction and Pick

  • Run Line: Brewers +1.5 (-105) | Dodgers -1.5 (-115)
  • Moneyline: Brewers +215 | Dodgers -240
  • Total: 7.5 (Over -120 / Under +100)

The Dodgers smashed the Marlins 10-3 yesterday to complete the sweep while the Brewers were salvaging a game at Wrigley field. Milwaukee is leaking oil at just 64-56, they are five back of St. Louis for the division and 1.5 back of the final Wild Card spot. They have gone 4-6 in their last 10 games.

Eric Lauer accounted for one of those losses, 2-1 to the Dodgers, but that does not mean he had a bad outing. Lauer was very good, going seven innings and allowing just two runs on four hits, while striking out seven.

Lauer just does not match Julio Urias. Urias is 13-6 with a 2.40 ERA and 123 K’s to just 26 walks. The Dodgers have won his last 11 starts and have covered the 1.5 run line in 10 of those 11. His last loss came on June 12, when he allowed two runs over six innings against San Francisco.

When Urias pitches the Dodgers win and typically win pretty big. The Brewers are struggling lately and can't hit lefties. On the season they have a .656 OPS facing left-handed pitching.

Pick: Dodgers -1.5 (-115) -- Josh Yourish

Texas Rangers vs. Minnesota Twins Odds, Prediction and Pick

The Twins have no business losing today's game, and they'll need to do some soul searching if they can't pull off this victory.

Simply put, Texas' Cole Ragans is not a strong starter. He's had an expected FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) above 4.88 in all three of his starts, a mark that would rank among MLB's worst pitchers if he had enough innings to qualify. Ragans has more walks than strikeouts, and Texas' bullpen isn't strong enough to pick up the slack.

Sonny Gray, on the other hand, is indeed a strong starter. He's got a 3.60 expected FIP on the season and allowed more than three runs just twice in 18 outings.

Before dropping their last two to these Rangers, the Twins had won five straight as home favorites. Their lineup lacks punch of late, but Ragans is the perfect opponent to bounce back against.

Minnesota desperately needs this win and I think we get the club's best effort. Give me the Twins on the run line as Gray dazzles and the offense gets to Ragans.
