There are 16 teams in action in Major League Baseball on Thursday, and we've got a fair amount of afternoon baseball as well.

BetSided's Matt De Saro, Peter Dewey and Donnavan Smoot have previewed the games on Thursday, May 12, and they have a few picks you should consider making for today's action, with all odds via WynnBET.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction and Pick

To this point in the season, betting on the Dodgers to win the game is essentially betting them against the run line. Los Angeles has covered in every game its won, and I am backing the trend tonight.

The Dodgers will have to overcome Zack Wheeler to get the win, but their offensive lineup is as dangerous as any team in the league. Still, the Phillies haven’t been able to give Wheeler the proper run support in his starts, which is why they are 1-4 in games he starts. Wheeler has been going longer in his starts, but he’s going to come off the mound eventually.

Los Angeles has the offense and the pitching with Tyler Anderson on the mound. While they’ve lost consecutive games twice this season, I don’t see them starting this series off with a loss.

Lean: Dodgers -1.5 (+145) -- Donnavan Smoot

New York Yankees vs. Chicago White Sox Prediction and Pick

It’s rare these days that you’re going to see the Yankees as an underdog, as this is just the second time all season the Yankees haven’t been favored in a game.

New York covered the run line in that lone matchup, but things may be a bit tougher with a wild card in Luis Gil on the mound on Thursday.

Vince Velasquez has been solid this season, posting the best ERA of his career so far in 2022. I don’t think that continues though, as his FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) is at 4.29 this season.

The Yankees are one of the best teams in baseball both on offense (fifth in OPS) and on the mound (second in team ERA).

Even though Chicago has been streaking, I think the Yankees at least are able to keep this game close

Lean: Yankees +1.5 (-160) -- Peter Dewey

New York Mets vs. Washington Nationals Prediction and Pick

The Nationals entered this series having lost four of their last five and 15 of their last 18 games overall. What is wild is that the Nationals actually have a very good offense. Aside from hitting home runs, they do just about everything else a lineup could do to win games. They are top five in batting average, hits per game, strikeouts per game, and BABIP (batting average of balls in play). Make no mistake, this team can hit. The problem is that they get hit much harder.

The Nationals have the 28th ranked pitching staff with a 4.85 ERA and 1.47 WHIP (walks + hits / innings pitched) and allow more walks than all but one other team. It’s also the little things that Washington is struggling with. They rank 25th in stolen bases and 19th in stolen bases allowed. The Nats are also 27th in errors and 28th in allowing double plays against their offense.

Little things make a big difference in baseball and will lead the Nats to yet another loss today. The Mets already swept the Nats once this season and should continue to dominate their division rivals.

Pick: Mets -1.5 (+110)  -- Matt De Saro
