Top MLS Picks Today (Underdogs The Way To Go On MLS Saturday)

Saturdays are for the MLS and we have a great lineup of games today. We’re nearing the halfway point of the season, and the playoff picture is starting to come into focus already. With that, I want to focus on a few teams that are in the playoff picture today. 

I’m staying in my home state of Texas with two of the matchups and going to FC Chicago-DC United for some non-playoff action just to keep things interesting. 

Here are my best bets for the MLS today. 

CF Montreal vs. Austin FC Best Bets

3-Way Moneyline: 

  • CF Montreal: +110
  • Austin FC: +220
  • Draw: +275

Over/Under: 2.5 (Over: -175/Under: +135)

Austin has a one point lead over Montreal right now and are in perfect position to get three more today. Montreal is the favorite, but traveling hasn’t been its strong suit this season. Montreal is 4-2 at home, but an average 3-3-2 on the road. Meanwhile, Austin is 4-1-2 at home. Austin also is eight goals better than Montreal in terms of goal differential. 

If Austin keeps up its strong home presence, I like them to upset CF Montreal. 

Pick: Austin ML +220 

Chicago FC vs. DC United Best Bets

3-Way Moneyline: 

  • Chicago FC: -105
  • DC United: +280
  • Draw: +265

Over/Under: 2.5 (Over: -135/Under: +105)

Neither of these teams are great – or even good for that matter. They are both at the bottom of the Eastern Conference and that’s because of their lack of offense. They are combining for less than two goals per game right now. Chicago FC has one win on the road, while DC United can’t seem to turn close games into wins at home. This is a matchup that can turn ugly quickly. I’ll back the UNDER here between two offensively challenged teams. 

Pick: UNDER 2.5 Goals (+105)

FC Dallas vs. Vancouver Whitecaps Best Bets

3-Way Moneyline: 

  • FC Dallas: -220
  • Vancouver: +625
  • Draw: +350

Over/Under: 2.5 (Over: -120/Under: -105)

Although FC Dallas is the superior team, Vancouver has a fantastic homefield advantage. The Whitecaps are 4-1-2 at home, while Dallas is 2-2-3 on the road. A Texas team traveling to Canada isn’t ideal and I think it will cause some issues for Dallas. Vancouver may not be able to win this one outright, but it will make Dallas work for everything. 

Pick: Draw +350
