Top NHL Picks and Predictions Today (3 Moneyline Picks for Tuesday Night)
We had a disappointing 1-2 night with my NHL picks on Monday, but luckily our winner was a thrilling +175 underdog in the Los Angeles Kings, who tied it up against the Bruins late before eventually winning in overtime.
Let's get back on track tonight with a stacked slate of NHL action. All odds listed below are via WynnBET Sportsbook.
Panthers vs. Penguins Prediction and Pick
I'm not one to buy into the idea that playing two nights in a row severely hinders an NHL team, so I'm all over the Panthers as a pick'em tonight on the road in Pittsburgh.
Over their last 25 games, the Panthers rank second in the CORSI%, and first in expected goals per 60 minutes at a staggering number of 3.74. They aren't quite as strong defensively, ranking 12th in expected goals against per 60 minutes, but that's only two spots worse than the Penguins, who rank 10th in that stat.
One key area difference between these two teams is shooting percentage. The Panthers are some of the best sharpshooters in the NHL, ranking second in that stat, finding the back of the net on 12.16 percent of their shots. The Penguins rank in the bottom half of the NHL, coming in at just 19th in shooting percentage.
Too many stats favor Florida for me to get scared away with it being the second leg of a back-to-back.
Pick: Panthers -110
Stars vs. Predators Prediction and Pick
The Nashville Predators have been in rough shape in recent weeks, and I'll jump all over the chance at backing the Stars as underdogs.
Over their last 25 games, the Predators rank 26th in CORSI percentage, 24th in expected goals per 60 minutes, and 27th in expected goals against per 60 minutes. Those don't sound like the numbers of a team that should be in the thick of a playoff race.
The Stars, on the other hand, rank 15th, fifth, and sixth in those three stats respectively, leagues above the Preds, yet they're +115 underdogs.
This bet is a no-brainer for me.
Pick: Stars +115
Capitals vs. Flames Prediction and Pick
Listen, if you're going to keep giving me the Flames at favorable odds, I'm obligated to keep betting on them. I've been the leader in the "Flames are contenders" camp since the start of the 2022 calendar year, and I've only been proved right since then.
The Flames are the hottest team in the NHL, and it's by no coincidence or luck. Over their last 25 games, their third in the NHL in CORSI%, third in expected goals per 60 minutes, and third in expected goals against per 60 minutes. Their acquisition of Tyler Toffoli has been the final puzzle piece for Calgary. They needed a goal scorer, and the former Canadien has done just that, scoring seven goals in 10 games since being acquired by the Flames.
Now they're only slight home favorites against a Capitals team that hasn't found its footing since December? Yes. Please.
Pick: Flames -130
