The second round of the NHL playoffs is down to its final series. Tonight, the Rangers and Hurricanes battle it out in Game 6. With their season on the edge, can the Rangers gut out a win and force a Game 7? Our Joe Summers made his pick for this game. Let’s see where Summers is going.

Hurricanes vs Rangers Prediction and Pick

The Rangers have excelled with their backs against the wall. They overcame multi-goal deficits and a 3-1 hole in the first round against Pittsburgh and climbed back to tie this series thanks to their resiliency.

I expect their resiliency to shine bright yet again at Madison Square Garden in Game 6. New York went 27-10 at home in the regular season and have won five straight in the playoffs. They're averaging 4.2 goals per game in that stretch and won four of those games by multiple goals.

Carolina, meanwhile, has really struggled on the road in the playoffs. They've lost all five road matches by a combined score of 21-8. Every single loss came on the puck line too, so I see tremendous value on the Rangers at +225.

But I also like the over 5.5 goals and think the odds are overreacting to the first several games of the series. New York's offense is excellent at Madison Square Garden and the over hit in all four of the Rangers' home games in the first round.

When the Hurricanes are on the road, there's usually a lot of goals scored. The over hit in all three first-round games in Boston, and including the regular season the over is 11-3-1 in Carolina's last 15 road contests.

Back the Rangers' offense to force Game 7 in a high-scoring contest. The comeback kids are back in action, let's see if they've got one more in them.

Pick: Rangers -1.5 (+225) and Over 5.5 (+125)
