Top NHL Picks and Predictions Today (Two Underdogs and an Under for March 27)
The final day of the Elite 8 might be going on today, but that doesn't mean that we can't dabble in some NHL bets.
We have a solid slate of games tonight, including battles between two of the top teams in each conference. Here are my top three plays for Sunday night's action.
All odds listed are via WynnBET Sportsbook.
Avalanche vs. Wild Prediction and Pick
Despite the OVER hitting at a high rate when these two teams have played in recent seasons, the UNDER is the play to make in today's matchup.
The Wild rank 25th in the NHL in expected goals for over their last 25 games, and now they face a Colorado team that's first in the NHL in team save percentage over that same stretch. Minnesota, while struggling creating offensive chances, have excelled at its own end of the ice, ranking seventh in expected goals against in their last 25 games. They're also first in the league in high danger scoring chances allowed.
Between the Wild's strong defensive play, the Avalanche's fantastic performances from their goaltenders, and the total set at a high mark of 6.5, the UNDER is the play tonight.
Panthers vs. Maple Leafs Prediction and Pick
As much as it pains me to write this as a Maple Leafs fan, their goaltending issues are a massive concern right now and I'm obligated to jump on the Panthers as slight underdogs in this game. The Panthers have the best offense in the NHL, averaging 3.99 goals per 60 minutes, and now face a Maple Leafs team that's 30th in the league in team save percentage through their last 25 games.
That's a recipe for disaster, and should be a huge concern for anyone considering backing the Buds at home.
Petr Mrazek will be getting the start in net for Toronto tonight, and he's allowed at least four goals in four of his last five starts. I'd be shocked if Florida doesn't fill the net with goals tonight.
Let's not overthink it, back the Panthers and their explosive offense tonight.
Pick: Panthers +100
Coyotes vs. Jets Prediction and Pick
If I were to ask you who the best shooting team in the NHL is over the last 25 games, I'd make a pretty big bet that you wouldn't guess the Arizona Coyotes. As surprising as it may be, it's true. The Coyotes have a shooting percentage of 12.46 over their last 25 games, which puts them first in the entire league.
They're terribly mis-priced in this game, as they're playing a Jets team that is firmly outside the playoff picture.
Are the Jets the better team? Sure. But -265 (bet $265 to profit $100) odds is ridiculous in this game.
It's aggressive, but I'm going to take a shot at Arizona as a hefty road underdog in Winnipeg.
Pick: Coyotes +225
