Storm vs. Sun Prediction and Pick
Nobody wanted to back the “Sue Bird Bounce” as much as I did against a team I’ve faded for the latter portion of the season in Connecticut, but I think the Sun come out firing.
Over the last five games, no team in the WNBA has been better in the first half than Connecticut, ranking first in offensive rating (114.1) and net rating (11.7). The Storm have been slow starters offensively over their last five; with the eighth-worst net rating (-1.5) and ninth-worst offensive rating (96.6).
If I had to pick on the full game itself, I’d lean Seattle to cover the 8 on the road, especially with how Breanna Stewart has played over her last three games. She’s quickly establishing herself into WNBA MVP territory with her latest performances; leading the WNBA now in PPG, PER and win shares over at HerHoopStats. – Ben Heisler
PICK: Sun 1H -3 (-110)
Mercury vs. Wings Prediction and Pick
The Wings are losers of four straight and are struggling to get a win, but it’s okay to trust them tonight. Dallas’ last four games include two against the league-leading Las Vegas Aces and two games against the Seattle Storm. Dallas is a good, not great team, so I don’t expect them to win those types of games.
Now, I do expect them to beat the Mercury who are tied for eighth in the league right now. Phoenix has improved its record slightly because its schedule has eased up a little bit over the last week. Now that it has to guard a team with the offensive firepower like Dallas, it will be trouble.
The Wings are due to get back to in the win column and I think the Mercury will regress slightly. – Donnavan Smoot
Pick: Wings -5 (-110)
