After a few nights with the majority of the league in action, we only have two games on the docket tonight. Two of the top three teams – the Aces and Sun – are in action today, hoping to secure the best seed possible for the playoffs that start in two weeks.

The Mercury and Wings, who are slated as big underdogs, are looking to keep their postseason hopes alive today.

With a night full of great games ahead of us, let’s get into my best bets.

Best WNBA Picks For Thursday, August 4

  • Mercury/Sun OVER 164.5 (-110)
  • Aces -8.5 vs. Wings (-110)

Mercury vs. Sun Best Bets

My initial pick in this game was to take the Sun against the spread. When the Mercury lose, they lose big, losing their last four games by double digits. However, I don’t want to lay 11.5 points, so I’ll back the OVER tonight. The last meeting between these teams, which was two days ago, finished at 160 points. That was with the Mercury scoring a mere 63 points.

I expect the Sun to be dominant and put a lot of points on the board, but I also don’t see the Mercury being much worse than what they were on Tuesday. With a little bit of positive regression, trust the Mercury to hold up their end of the bargain.

Pick: Mercury/Sun OVER 164.5 (-110)

Aces vs. Wings Best Bets

The Aces are only 15-16 ATS this season, but this is a great night to back them. Las Vegas has looked on top of its game since the All-Star break and has been winning its games in dominant fashion. In five of their last six wins, the Aces have won by double-digits. If you put that against a Wings team that has been inconsistent all year long and is middle of the pack in offensive and defensive rating, you're going to get a good result. Dallas has been great against the spread this season, but I’ll trust the better team today.

Pick: Aces -8.5 vs. Wings (-110)
