Top WNBA Picks and Predictions Today (Back Lynx, Storm and Mystics on Sunday)

The WNBA playoffs are approaching, and there are some huge games with playoff implications on Sunday, headlined by the Seattle Storm and Las Vegas Aces fighting for the top spot in the Western Conference. 

Let’s break down some of the top picks for today’s action, with odds via WynnBET:

Yes, the Dream have won back-to-back games, but they came against the Los Angeles Sparks (losers of six straight) and the Indiana Fever (losers of 16 straight). 

It’s hard to put a lot of stock into those performances, and it’s worth noting that the Dream lost by seven to this Lynx team at home back on July 28. 

The Dream are 8-7 against the spread on the road this season, but I have serious questions about how their No. 11 offense will keep up with the Lynx’s top-five attack. 

Minnesota has not been a good team by any stretch this season, but its per 100 possessions numbers suggest it is the better team. I’m not going to overthink this and back the Lynx at home.

It’s rare to see the Aces as underdogs, but I actually agree with this line from the oddsmakers since the Storm are 13-4 straight up and 10-6-1 against the spread at home in 2022. 

This is a battle of two contrasting styles, as A’ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum and the Aces are the league’s top offense, while Seattle has the league’s No. 1 defensive rating this season. 

Vegas has dropped games to the Washington Mystics and Dallas Wings in its last two matchups, and things get even tougher with Breanna Stewart and company today. 

I think Seattle keeps up its strong play at home, especially since Vegas has fallen off a bit on offense the last few games, scoring just 80 and 73 points.

This is a nightmare matchup for the struggling Sparks, as the Mystics have one of the top defenses in the WNBA. 

With the Sparks struggling for offense with Liz Cambage no longer with the team, they have lost games by 18, 10, seven, 29, three and two on this stretch. While the last two games have been encouraging, one of them was on a back-to-back and the other was against an average Atlanta Dream team. 

Laying 10-plus points is always tough, but I think this is a spot to do it with Washington, since the Sparks have been so bad as of late.
