Top WNBA Picks and Predictions Today (Back OVER in Aces Sparks, Trust Mercury at Home)
By Peter Dewey
There are a pair of late-night games in the WNBA on Monday night, so why don’t we make a pick for both of the matchups on the slate?
The league’s best team, the Las Vegas Aces, will take on the Los Angeles Sparks in L.A., while the Phoenix Mercury and Skylar Diggins host the Indiana Fever at 10 p.m. EST.
Let’s jump into the odds via WynnBET:
Indiana Fever vs. Phoenix Mercury Odds, Spread and Total
Spread:
- Fever +7 (-110)
- Mercury -7 (-110)
Moneyline:
- Fever: +250
- Mercury: -310
Total:
- 169 (Over -110/Under -110)
Best Bets for Fever vs. Mercury
The Phoenix Mercury have struggled mightily this season, but they have a chance to pick up an easy win against the 5-14 Indiana Fever on Monday.
The Mercury are heavily favored at home, where they are just 3-4 against the spread, but I think this is a spot to back them even in the post-Tina Charles fallout.
Skylar Diggins-Smith has been elite lately, scoring 21 or more points in three of her last four games, and doing her best Steph Curry impression after the team’s win against Dallas.
I’ll ride with Phoenix since Indiana is just 7-12 ATS on the season.
Lean: Mercury -7 (-110)
Las Vegas Aces vs. Los Angeles Sparks Odds, Spread and Total
Spread:
- Aces -8 (-110)
- Sparks +8 (-110)
Moneyline:
- Aces: -350
- Sparks: +275
Total:
- 174.5 (Over -110/Under -110)
Best Bets for Aces vs. Sparks
This is a high total, but for good reason as these teams are in No. 1 (Vegas) and No. 6 (L.A.) in points per game this season.
Both teams have been far more profitable on the OVER this season, posting 11-6 records on OVERs in 2022. The Aces are the best team in the league, but I think siding with the total is a safer play in this matchup.
First off, Las Vegas has lost four straight against the spread, and the Sparks are better ATS as dogs, going 6-5 this season.
Per HerHoopStats, these two teams are two of the fastest paced in the league, with the Aces ranking No. 1 with 84.5 possessions per 40 minutes and the Sparks ranking fourth.
With so much offensive talent on the floor between Nneka Ogwumike, Liz Cambage, A’Ja Wilson, Jackie Young and Kelsey Plum, I think we will see a track meet on Monday night.
Pick: OVER 174.5 (-110)
