The Toronto Blue Jays are giving me a reason to wake up in the morning.

My Atlanta Falcons are in a blackhole of suck and my Toronto Maple Leafs are destined to once again lose in the first round of the NHL playoffs. Thankfully, the MLB season is about to start and the only other professional sports team that I'm a fan of, the Toronto Blue Jays, are destined to be one of the best teams in the Majors.

Blue Jays are Destined for Greatness in 2022

Yes, the Blue Jays barely missed the playoffs last year in what was one of the most heartbreaking finishes to the regular season in recent history of the sport. But, if we look past that, it's obvious they were one of the best teams in the Majors. They were fifth in MLB and third in the American league in run differential at +183, 37 runs better then the eventual World Series champions.

And now, they're even better.

Losing Marcus Semien was certainly not ideal, but they replaced him with Matt Chapman from the A's. Pair him alongside the likes of George Springer, Bo Bichette, Teoscar Hernandez, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and you have one of the best offenses in the Majors.

A similar story is true when it comes to their pitching. They lost Robbie Ray, but they extended midseason pickup Jose Berrios to an extension and signed one of the best pitchers from the NL last season, Kevin Gausman. Their rotation rounds out with the always-reliable Hyun-Jin Ryu, Sophomore phenom Alek Manoah, and Yusei Kikuchi. Find a hole in their rotation, I'll wait.

If there's one weakness on the Jays, it's their bullpen. But there are plenty of pitchers, most notably Nate Pearson, who are primed for a big leap in 2022. If their bullpen can at least be average, Toronto will be a force to be reckoned with.

The Yankees are a shell of their former selves, the Rays don't have the talent, and the Red Sox don't have the depth to keep up with the Blue Jays this season.
