Trust Chicago Bears vs. Jets Despite Justin Fields Injury

It’s getting to the part of the season where injuries start piling up and start to have an impact on final standings. Yesterday, Justin Fields revealed he has a separated shoulder. On the same day, the New York Jets announced that Zach Wilson will be the third-string quarterback and Mike White will get the start. 

That means the quarterback battle we thought we’d get is not going to happen, and we might be getting Mike White against Trevor Siemian.

The Jets opened as 3.5-point favorites and are now 6-point favorites over the Bears. The total has also plummeted from 46.5 to 38.5.

With all the quarterback news that is circulating this game, there’s two plays that we can make. We can either take the UNDER at 38.5 and be stressed the entire afternoon – but probably be vindicated in the end. The other option is to take the Bears +6. 

I don’t know about you, but I don’t expect Mike White to instantly step in and light up the scoreboard. In the three games White played at least 70% of the snaps last season, he went 1-2. The lone game he won was 34-31 against the Cincinnati Bengals. He’s not beating anyone by a full touchdown. 

Even if the Bears offense gets shut down like the Patriots did last week by the Jets’ defense, we’re going to need over 30 points from the Jets – who haven’t scored 30 points since the start of October when they faced Skylar Thompson. 

There might be two below-average quarterbacks in this game, so I’ll take the UNDER and whichever team is getting the points.
