Major League Baseball did a fantastic job with its schedule in the National League West, as for the second straight week fans are treated to the marquee matchup between the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers

The Giants, who have come out of nowhere this season, are leading the Dodgers in the division race by two games after taking three of the four games in the series last week.

The two teams will play a three-game set at Oracle Park starting tonight, and the Dodgers will send Julio Urias to the mound against San Francisco’s Logan Webb.

Urias is a whopping 12-3 on the season, and the Dodgers are 15-5 in his starts. Webb is only 4-3, but he has put up an impressive 3.54 earned run average and has struck out 65 batters in 61 innings.

Both pitchers have been solid this season, but I’m backing Urias tonight in one of his player props. WynnBET has the left-handers strikeout prop set at 5.5 with the over (+104) as the underdog to the under (-140).

Urias has made three starts against the Giants this season, and he’s struck out 20 batters in 18.0 innings pitched, including a 10 strikeout performance on May 23.

The Giants have been fantastic on offense this year, as they average the seventh-most runs per game at 4.89, but that doesn’t come without a lot of strikeouts. San Francisco strikes out 9.36 times per game, the seventh-highest total in baseball, and the Giants have struck out 12.33 times per game over their past three contests.

If that trend continues, Urias has a fantastic opportunity to hit over on his prop at plus odds. The lefty is due for some positive regression in the strikeout department, as he’s struck out just eight batters over his last two starts after punching out nine batters on July 8 against the Marlins.

The Dodgers are a -125 favorite on the moneyline against the Giants (+100) tonight. They lost Urias’ last start against San Francisco, but they had won seven of his last eight outings prior to that loss. The total is set for 8.5 runs with the under (-116) as the favorite.
