The Baltimore Orioles snapped a five-game losing streak over the weekend by taking two of three from the Boston Red Sox. It was the first series of three games or more than the Orioles won this season. It was also only the second time that the O’s won two in a row.

Baltimore continues their two-game series against the Minnesota Twins tonight in the hopes of winning their second straight series. The Twins, however, will be looking to win their fourth straight series in a row. Minnesota looks to grow its lead in the AL West over the Guardians with what should be an easy few wins at Camden Yards.

Twins vs. Orioles Prediction and Pick

I don’t usually say this about a game featuring the Baltimore Orioles, but this could be one heck of a pitching duel. Joe Ryan will be making his fifth start of the season and is a legit dark horse candidate to win the AL Cy Young at +2500. Ryan is 3-1 with a 1.17 ERA and 0.70 WHIP. It’s still early, but he ranks fourth in ERA and second in WHIP in his first 23 innings. He has also not been scored on in his last 16 innings pitched. I’ll admit he has faced some soft competition, but the Orioles fall well in that category.

Baltimore will give the ball to lefty Bruce Zinnermann less than a week after blanking the Yankees over 4 ⅓ innings. He has only given up two runs all year and they were both in the same game. In contrast to Ryan, Zimmermann has done this against the Brewers, Angels and Yankees twice.

Neither team has a particularly impressive offense to combat these surging starters. The Twins rank 18th in batting average and 13th in runs per game. The Orioles rank 23rd and 26th in those particular categories. With an average bullpen on both sides, I think this could be a low-scoring, grind-em-out type of game.

Pick: UNDER 7 (-115)
