UCF vs. East Carolina Prediction and Pick
I'm not all that interested in the side of this game even though it does point towards the Knights getting back on track as road favorites, but I'm interested in the total.
Both teams play relatively fast, per KenPom, each inside the top 200 nationally, and are both elite free throw shooting teams, each over 75% collectively.
UCF has a ton of size on the interior, 24th in average height per KenPom, and that leads to a ton of three-point attempts from their opponents. UCF is allowing the 30th highest three-point rate, but holding teams to sub-30% shooting. That feels ripe for regression, and ECU is the team to exploit that with a top 30 three-point percentage this season nationally.
The Knights also do a great job of turning their opponent over (34th in the country), and can get some easy offense. The team posts the 58th shortest average possession length on offense and will look to push the pace against ECU, who is a middling defense in all regards, ranking 185th per KenPom.
I'm not rushing to bet UCF in an obvious get-right spot, but I do see a ton of points from each side.
