UCF and Tulane meet again for the second time in a month at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans, this time with an AAC Championship on the line.

Tulane was able to secure home field in the AAC Championship game against UCF in hopes of getting revenge against them after losing last month 38-31 at home to the Knights. The Green Wave defense was gashed by the UCF rush attack, led by quarterback John Rhys Plumlee, but JRP left UCF's regular season finale last week with a hamstring injury. How does that impact this game?

Let's break down the odds and find the best bet for this one:

UCF vs. Tulane Odds, Spread and Total

UCF vs. Tulane Betting Trends

  • Tulane is 10-2 against the spread (ATS) this season
  • UCF is 7-5 ATS this season, and covered their only time as an underdog (against Tulane)
  • UCF has gone UNDER in five of 12 games

UCF vs. Tulane Prediction and Pick

The Knights have two capable quarterbacks that are also very different in terms of play style. Plumee is a run-first quarterback that popped off against Tulane a few weeks back, rushing for 176 yards on nearly 10 yards per carry. The Green Wave rush defense is the weak spot for what is an elite defense, 110th in EPA/Rush.

However, JRP left the team's win against South Florida last week with an apparent hamstring injury, leaving his status in doubt for the title game.

If Plumlee can't go it will be Mikey Keene, who has plenty of experience over the last two years, including against Cincinnati and last week against USF, leading two game winning drives in the final two minutes.

Keene is more of a pocket passer, but the UCF offense will still focus on the ground game and should find success once again with the likes of Isaiah Bowser and Johnny Richardson.

Tulane's offense is strong as well, 36th nationally in success rate with veteran quarterback Michael Pratt and running back Tyjae Spears, who rushed for 130 yards last time these teams met.

JRP's status is of course key, but I think UCF and Tulane's offenses are going to dictate this game and each team should find success just like the last time these two teams met. Both teams were above the 70th percentile in terms of EPA/Play in the first meeting.

This total is up 2.5 points from the last game, but I'm not sure there's enough adjustment. I lean towards the UCF side at over a field goal, but with injury concerns I'd rather look towards the over.
