UCLA Only Pac-12 Team Who Impressed in Week 1
The Pac-12 hasn't been relevant on the national stage for almost a decade now, and it’s not looking like that’s going to change this year.
Its only hope could be the UCLA Bruins, who were the only team in the entire conference that looked impressive in Week 1. The Bruins took down the LSU Tigers as 2.5-point underdogs, beating them by a final score of 38-27.
UCLA was also one of the few schools who competed in Week 0, trounching a tough Hawaii team 44-10.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Pac-12 stumbled out of the gates.
Oregon needed to stage a fourth quarter comeback to get past Fresno State, USC allowed San Jose State to hang around for almost the entire game, and Washington lost to Montana from the FCS as a 22.5-point favorite.
An ugly start for the Pac-12.
Despite losing to Montana, WynnBET still has the Huskies set as co-favorites alongside Oregon to win the conference at +325. Arizona State, USC, and Utah are next on the odds list at +500. UCLA is ranked sixth at +550.
The Pac-12 may be a shell of its former self, but you can’t say it doesn’t have parity. Oddsmakers are giving half the teams in the conference a realistic shot at winning it.
Meanwhile California, Stanford, Colorado, Oregon State, Washington State, and Arizona all have odds of +5000 or longer.
UCLA has a BYE week coming up, but it will take on Fresno State in Week 4 which should give us a better indication of where they stand, considering how much of a challenge it gave the Ducks in Week 1.
