UFC Fight Night: Vieira vs. Tate Preview and Best Bets
By Reed Wallach
The UFC is back on ESPN+ with a fight night card headlined by a main event between Miesha Tate and Ketlen Vieira.
12 fights make up the card, so let's hunt for some value on this card with odds courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.
Main Event: Ketlen Vieria (-115) vs. Miesha Tate (-105)
Tate made her return to the octagon in July after retiring from the sport in 2016 in winning fashion, beating Marion Reanu. Now, she looks to make it two in a row against Ketlen Vieira, who is coming off a loss to Yana Kunitskaya last February.
Tate will be giving up some size to Vieira in this matchup, two inches of height and three inches of reach, which could prove pivotal in a slow-paced fight. While Vieira lost several months ago, Kunitskaya is incredibly polished striker and Tate is not the same type of fighter. She should be more comfortable in this matchup.
I believe that Vieira can grapple her way to and get back in the win column.
Pick: Vieira -115
Underdog Bet: Davey Grant (+245) vs. Adrian Yanez (-320)
Yanez throws some serious heat, but there is a path to victory for Grant, who has been a pofitable bet as an underdog in the past, winning three of his last four, all of which were at + money.
Grant has never been knocked out in his UFC career, and that is the easiest way for a Yanez victory. While he has won six of his last seven by KO, that has meant he has not gone long into fights, with an average fight time in the UFC of just over five minutes, meaning we haven't had a good look at Yanez deep into fights.
Grant is a strong grappler, who has been able to find late victories by finish. If Grant can withstand early offense from Yanez, possibly by mixing in some grappling, he's live to score a victory and stop Yanez's ascent up the UFC bantamweight rankings.
PICK: Grant +245 (.5U)
Prelim Bet: Natan Levy (+100) vs. Rafa Garcia (-120)
Levy is making his UFC debut at 6-0 (he won on Dana White's Contender Series), so there are some questions around what type of performance we will see, but I like the price against Garcia who we have seen struggle in the UFC not once, but twice already.
Garcia is 0-2 in the promotion and has struggled with cardio during his short stint. That's going to be a big issue against Levy, who is likely going to attack with his grappling and hunt for early takedowns. I'm not confident in Garcia's avenue to victory and believe Levy has the edge in his ability to win early rounds and take this fight if it goes to the scorecards.
Levy should be favored instead of a slight underdog.
PICK: Levy +100
