The main event for this week's UFC Vegas 49 has had a recent change. Islam Makhachev, who was scheduled to fight Beneil Dariush, will now take on Bobby Green in a five round main event. Bobby Green took the fight on 10 days notice, almost immediately after defeating Nasrat Haqparast at UFC 271 on February 12th. The fighters agreed to meet at a catch weight of 160 pounds, five pounds over the normal lightweight limit.

The co-main event will feature a middleweight bout between Misha Cirkunov and Wellington Turman.

Makhachev vs. Green Prediction

Fighting on short notice is one thing, but fighting one of the top prospects in the entire UFC is a whole different animal.

I applaud Bobby Green for stepping up on short notice, but he's in over his head in this bout. Makhachev has won nine-straight fights in the UFC, and he's coming off an impressive submission victory over Dan Hooker at UFC 267. Green will enter the fight on a two-fight win streak, but he has recent losses against Rafael Fiziev and Thiago Moises who are not even close to Makhachev's skill level.

I wouldn't suggest laying -660 odds (bet $660 to profit $100) on Makhachev to win this fight, but this is likely a situation where you should wait for prop odds to be released and bet on the Russian to win inside the distance.
