The United States Women's National Team will begin its campaign for a third straight World Cup on Friday night when they open their tournament against Vietnam.

The United States winning is a foregone conclusion and the betting odds reflect that. Vietnam will be making their World Cup debut and the gap between them and the United States is insermountable.

So, with that in mind, how should we handle wagering on this match? Let's dive into it.

Well, we're not going to bet on Vietnam to win or for the game to be a draw, and we certainly aren't laying -10000 juice on the United States to win.

So, we're looking at the total instead and we're going with the OVER 6.5. This is a pretty straight forward bet because we know how the United States treats inferior opponents. They like to run up the score as much as possible while celebrating every single goal like they just won the whole tournament.

Just look at their 13-0 match against Thailand in the last World Cup for proof of exactly that.

Now, I don't think the USA will win the World Cup for several reasons, but I'm not going to pretend like they aren't going to steamroll Vietnam. The gap in women's soccer on the international stage is too large for teams like Vietnam to competed with the powerhouse that is the United States.

Plus, if we just take the game total OVER instead of the spread, Vietnam being able to squeeze in a goal will help us cash this bet.
