UNLV vs. Nevada Prediction, Odds, Spread and Over/Under for College Football Week 9
By Matt De Saro
UNLV and Nevada are gearing up for a Friday night primetime game between in-state and conference rivals.
Considering the spread for this game is over 20 points, maybe the rivalry isn’t as hot as it once was. Yet both teams will be up for this game under the lights at Mackay Stadium.
The UNLV Rebels are dead last in the Mountain West West division with an 0-7 record on the season. Not much more to say about that. The closes they came to a win was a Week 1 loss to Eastern Washington 35-33. Despite their awful SU record, the Rebels have done a good job covering double-digit spreads against Fresno State and UTSA.
Can second-year UNLV HC Marcus Arroyo lead his team to a massive upset this weekend? Probably not, but covering a 20 point spread sounds very doable for this team.

UNLV vs. Nevada Prediction and Pick
UNLV and Nevada have split the last eight games in this series with Nevada taking last year's meeting, 37-19. Clearly, the Rebels are not the same team that usually gives Nevada a tough time and has the slimmest of chances to win this game.
However, I really do like UNLV to cover this game as 20.5-point underdogs. This is partially due to the fact they improve each week. I realize that sounds like a silly thing to say about a 0-7 team, but it’s true. They narrowly missed out on beating San Jose State, 27-20, and Utah State, 28-24 in back-to-back weeks and even then-No. 22 Fresno State only beat them by eight. I am not saying that the Rebels are a particularly good team, but they are better than their record indicates.
Furthermore, the Raiders are 3-1 ATS when underdogs of 20 or more. UNLV has covered +34.5 against Arizona State, +30.0 against Fresno State, and +21.5 to UTSA. The lone miss was a 45 point loss to Iowa State as 32.0 point underdogs at home.
Prediction: UNLV +20.5 (-110)
