UNLV vs. San Jose State Prediction and Pick
A year ago, San Jose State took a 27-20 win in Vegas and now have a pretty veteran-laden team with transfer quarterback, Chevan Cordeiro. Cordeiro has thrown for over 1,000 yards and four touchdowns in four games with no interceptions and ran for another 180 yards and four TDs. His mobility has mostly shown up in the red zone. That could be a problem for UNLV as last week in their win over New Mexico, the Lobos quarterback, Miles Kendrick rushed for two touchdowns.
UNLV went 2-11 last year and already looks like a different team and Doug Brumfield has emerged as the quarterback over Harrison Bailey and Cameron Friel. Adrian Robbins has opened things up on the ground with 506 yards rushing and eight touchdowns through five games.
In this game I’ll lean on pedigree over anything. San Jose State has had three winning seasons in a row and a Mountain West title in 2020, while UNLV hasn’t had a winning season in eight years. The Rebels may have turned it around, but I’m not ready to buy in fully just yet.
This line has already started to move in the direction of San Jose State and by the end of the week they could be a touchdown favorite. Get in now before the big jump happens.
Pick: San Jose State -5.5
