The 2022 U.S. Open begins on Thursday, June 16, and there are plenty of things to know about this year’s tournament before placing your bets.

Last year, Jon Rahm won the U.S. Open, and he is 12/1 at WynnBET Sportsbook to repeat in 2022.

Here’s a full guide to this year’s U.S. Open and some players that you should target:

Can LIV Golfers Play in the U.S. Open?

Yes, LIV golfers can play in the U.S. Open. The USGA announced last week that golfers that have left the PGA Tour for LIV will be allowed to compete in this year’s event.

2022 U.S. Open Location

The 2022 U.S. Open will be played at The Country Club at Brookline in Brookline, Mass. The last time the U.S. Open was held at this venue was in 1988.

The total payout for the 2022 U.S. Open is $12.5 million.

If we base this purse on the standardized formula that the PGA Tour is using, the winner should receive $2.25 million for a victory in the U.S. Open. For comparison, the golfer that finishes in 50th will receive $32,125. The golfer that finishes in second place will receive over $1.36 million.

U.S. Open Picks and Predictions

As for myself, there are a few golfers I think could have some value this week.

Sam Burns (+3000 at WynnBET) won the Charles Schwab challenge and then followed that up with a T4 finish at the Canadian Open. He is in solid form right now and is just outside the top contenders in the odds.

I also don’t mind Will Zalatoris (+2500), who always seems to step up in Majors. He ended up losing in a playoff in the PGA Championship, but Zalatoris was also T6 at the Masters this year. He’s a solid pick at 25/1.
