USA vs Costa Rica Prediction and Odds (Where is the Betting Value in World Cup Qualifiers?)
By Matt De Saro
The USMNT came through with a win for us against Panama 5-1 last week. Now they pack their bags and head to Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica in Costa Rica for their next game of qualifying. The United States is currently second in its group just three points behind Canada.
It is possible for the US to win the group but it all starts here against the Ticos. Technically, the USMNT has not qualified for the World Cup but is on the path to doing so. In the history of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers, La Sele is 4-2 in seven games. One match ended in a draw.
Here are the odds for the matchup courtesy of WynnBET.

USA vs. Costa Rica Prediction and Pick
This is the final qualifying game for the United States and there is just one goal for the USMNT. Don’t lose by six or more goals. While that sounds a bit specific, it is the only way that the US doesn't get knocked out of the World Cup. It’s a pretty low bar to hit, but, I think the USMNT has their sights set higher. If the worst happens, the USA will still make the International Tournament. But I don’t see a world where that happens.
Costa Rica has had some success against the United States. But, a 6 goal loss is just not in the cards here. The question is whether or not the USMNT will be gunning for a win, or just to avoid a major loss? Canada is in a similar situation against Panama. There is a chance that the USA could leapfrog Canada and take over the top spot with a big win and a total collapse by the Canucks.
If the American’s only goal here is not to lose by six goals, their motivation might not quite be there to put up points. I don’t think they play lax enough to lose to the Ticos again, but I do like the value of a potential draw here.
