The USWNT finally fell. The Americans looked vulnerable in the quarterfinals, winning in penalty kicks. Although the Americans moved on, there was still some concern heading into the semifinals against Canada. The Canadiens was able to take advantage of the faltering Americans and are now in the Gold medal match against Sweden.
The Americans were a +115 favorite to win Gold in Tokyo, while Canada was +600. The United States will face off against Australia in the Bronze medal match.

"It's a bitter one. Obviously there's still a lot to compete for. That's what I told the girls and what we talked about in the huddle,” Megan Rapinoe said. “It's not the color we want, but there's still a medal on the line. That's a huge thing and we want to win that game, but yeah, ...this sucks. It sucks."
The USWNT played Australia during the group stage. That game ended in a scoreless draw, which was just enough for the United States to clinch its spot in the knockout round. The American women get a chance at redemption, and the odds say they will get it done.
WynnBET has the USWNT as heavy favorites against Australia the second time around. The Americans are -135 favorites on the moneyline, while the Australians are +400.
Although the expectation was a Gold, it is a step up from the 2016 Rio Olympics. The USWNT lost to Sweden in penalties and failed to make it to the semifinals. If the Americans win, it will be their first ever Bronze medal. Yet, this would be the first time the USWNT has competed in consecutive Olympics and not won a Gold medal in either of them.
