Utah State vs. Air Force Prediction and Odds: Can Falcons Snap Losing Streak at Home?
By Ben Heisler
Mountain West conference play kicks off at 3pm ET this afternoon from Clune Arena in Colorado Springs when the Air Force Falcons host the Utah State Aggies.
Utah State has had a much busier month of December, playing their seventh game of the month this afternoon, while Air Force's schedule has been much more spread out; playing only their fifth.
Two betting trends are on a collision course today, as Utah State is undefeated as a road favorite, while Air Force is perfect vs. the spread as a home underdog.
Let's dive into the latest odds over at WynnBET Sportsbook:
Utah State vs. Air Force Odds, Spread and Total
Spread:
- Utah State -11.5 (-110)
- Air Force +11.5 (-110)
Moneyline:
- Fresno State -750
- Boise State +525
Total:
- 130.5 (Over -110/Under -110)
Utah State vs. Air Force Prediction and Pick
We've got some early line movement in the Mountain West as the Aggies opened close to 12/12.5-point favorites in their road matchup this afternoon. It's since moved down to -11.5 as tip-off approaches.
At first glance, it seems awfully tough to find much confidence in the Falcons right now. They've lost their last three games by 18, 22, and 22; all on the road. Meanwhile, Utah State has three blowout victories, but fell on the road at Iowa by 19 back on the 19th.
It appears the sharps like the number for the Falcons far more at home, where they're undefeated this season (straight-up). With star guard A.J. Walker struggling over his last three games and shooting under 30% in the previous two, I can't help but wonder if a return back to Colorado can get his confidence going again. He's still shooting 52% this season despite the recent struggles.
Air Force is a solid, but not spectacular defensive squad having given up no more than 68 points in a game this year. They've also allowed 57 PPG over their last four matchups at home. Utah State averages 79.5 points per game and is getting a spectacular season out of senior forward Justin Bean with just under 20 points and over 10 boards per game.
If the Falcons can limit Bean's touches inside and force the other Aggies to beat them, I think they'll hang around and cover the large number at home.
PICK: Air Force +11.5 (-110)
