The Pac 12 has done it once again.

They get their teams so close to the College Football Playoff and then cannibalize each other down the stretch.

Last week, it was Oregon who went in at 8-1 and lost to Washington 37-34. Now, the Ducks are No. 12 in the country at 8-2, behind the 8-2 Utah Utes ranked No. 10.

The Pac 12 title is still very much up for grabs and these two and the winner of this game will all but punch their ticket to a likely matchup with USC.

This is as big of a game as it gets out West, so let’s look at the odds and trends to make a pick.

Utah vs. Oregon Prediction and Pick

While Oregon was in a bloodbath with Washington last week, Utah was cruising to a 42-7 win at home against Stanford. They will feel a lot more comfortable this week, which isn’t always the best thing in college football. Dan Lanning’s team bounced back well from their first loss of the year, so maybe they will have a little extra juice against Utah.

The concern for the Ducks is their passing defense. They were exposed through the air by Washington last week and Cam Rising will do the same. Rising is legitimately one of the best quarterbacks in the country. He completes 66.3% of his passes and has thrown 19 touchdowns to just four picks this year. He has passed for 2,225 yards this year and 649 of those to Dalton Kincaid. Kincaid is Rising’s favorite target and the tight-end should have a massive day this week. Oregon has the 127th ranked passing defense that allows 289.7 yards per game.

Oregon relies on the run game for most of their offense and will go against Utah’s 28th ranked run D. Utah can stop what the Ducks do best, but Oregon has no chance against Cam Rising.

Pick: Utah -2 (-110)
