Utah and Washington State are fresh off their BYE and looking to start the home stretch of the college football season with a weeknight win.

The Utes were able to knock off USC in a thrilling Week 7 win and are back in the mix for a PAC-12 Championship appearance. Washington State stands in their way though, a team that has hung tough with Oregon and knocked off Wisconsin on the road. Do the Cougars have another upset bid on their hands? Let's breakdown the odds and find out:

Utah vs. Washington State Prediction and Pick

Wazzu has been an under cash cow this season, and the only time it went over was in a wild 80-plus point game in Oregon a few weeks ago.

While Utah's defense may not be as good as advertised, they allowed 40-plus points to both UCLA and USC, they should be able to keep a lid on this Washington State offense that more than 24 points twice this season three times this season.

The Wazzu offense has been battling injuries to the likes of running back Nakia Watson and wide receiver Renard Bell, and while their status is unknown yet for Thursday, it could be a trying effort for the Cougars offense. The team is middle of the pack nationally in terms of yards per play and is outside the top 100 in yards per rush (before factoring their starting running back is hurt).

Utah's offense is elite, top 10 in success rate, but they don't hit a ton of chunk plays, bottom half of the country in both explosive run and pass rate, meaning that they do a good job of staying ahead of the sticks but they don't score quickly. Factor in that the team is bottom 40 in plays per minute and I can see this game being a bit of a grind.

I'll lean on Utah to dictate the terms of this game and for several long possessions, leading to the game going under the total.
