UTSA vs. Texas Prediction, Odds, Spread and Over/Under for College Football Week 3
By Reed Wallach
Texas was almost back on Saturday.
The Longhorns held a fourth quarter lead over No. 1 Alabama, but lost 20-19, despite turning to backup Hudson Card in the first half. The team covered the three touchdown spread against the Crimson Tide, but couldn't get the shocking victory. Can they maintain a high level against reigning Conference USA champions UTSA.
With injury uncertainty on the side of the Longhorns, and a UTSA team coming to Austin after back-to-back overtime thrillers, is there a valuable side to bet?
Let's find out by first checking out the odds from FanDuel Sportsbook.

UTSA vs. Texas Prediction and Pick
Ewers will miss the next four-to-six weeks with a shoulder injury, and Card was limping around the field for a majority of the second half as he tried to keep the Longhorns in front. Card is shaping up to be a game time decision for this one under center. If he can't go it will be Charles Wright under the center, who has taken first team reps this week in practice.
Of course if Wright goes that makes the Longhorns an unknown quantity heading into this matchup against UTSA. However, I was impressed with Texas' ability to get to Bryce Young in the loss last Saturday, sacking him twice, and can limit the explosive play of Roadrunners QB Frank Harris.
The Longhorns defensive line bullied Alabama for most of the game, especially on third downs, holding the Tide to a meager 33% conversion rate.
I'd wait for a full injury report before betting the Longhorns, UTSA played a taxing overtime game in San Antonio in Week 1, travelled to West Point to go to overtime with Army and its triple option offense, and now need to head back to Austin to face a talented Longhorns team.
If Card goes, I think Texas gets back on track at home, but for now I'll look to the under as I expect Texas to attack on the ground as it looks to find the right formula for success without Ewers.
