Valentina Shevchenko is one of the most dominant UFC fighters in the history of the sport.

She has yet to lose inside of the women’s flyweight division, having defended her belt a total of five times, and her only losses in her UFC career have come in razor-thin decision losses to Amanda Nunes, who is the women’s MMA GOAT. You also have to note that Nunes is notably bigger than Shevchenko, which makes the close fights even that much more impressive.

Greatness is fun to watch, but it makes betting on her fights tough to do. She’s listed at WynnBET as a massive -1300 favorite over Lauren Murphy in tonight’s UFC 266 co-main event. That means you’d have to wager a whopping $1,300 just to profit $100.

Nobody wants to do that, and most casual bettors who only bet $10 or $20 at a time would receive almost nothing in return.

So how should you bet on a fighter as dominant as Shevchenko?

The best way to do it is by looking at method of victory odds. WynnBET has them set as follows:

  • Shevchenko by KO/TKO -120
  • Shevchenko by decision +240
  • Shevchenko by submission +500

While trying to figure out how she’s going to win is a lot more difficult than just betting on her to win the fight by any method she can, it’s a way to find value betting on a fighter that would normally only return pennies on the dollar.

Her fight history won’t give you much of an edge in deciding which method to bet on as she has seven wins by knockout, seven wins by submission, and seven wins by decision in her professional MMA career.

Reed Wallach is betting on one of those props for this women’s flyweight championship co-main event. Check out our UFC best bets article to find out which method of victory he’s backing.
