Vegas Disagrees with Lamar Jackson Ranking by NFL Executives, Coaches

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson may not play in the most pass-happy offense in the NFL, but the former MVP of the league has the respect of oddmakers; even if it still hasn't come from the NFL's internal evaluators.

ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler spoke with 50-plus NFL coaches, executives and scouts to determine a rankings for the top-10 NFL quarterbacks. Jackson came in at No. 8 in the rankings which were listed as follows:

3. Tom Brady
4. Russell Wilson
5. Josh Allen
6. Matthew Stafford
7. Dak Prescott
8. Lamar Jackson
9. Justin Herbert
10. Kyler Murray

Mahomes remains the clear frontrunner at odds of +650, with Josh Allen and Aaron Rodgers trailing behind in second place at +1100. After seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady at +1200, Jackson is tied for the fifth-smallest odds to win MVP with the two quarterbacks ranked ahead of him in Stafford and Prescott.

While Prescott and Stafford are expected to air it out all season, placed No. 1 and 2 respectively in predicted total passing yards, oddsmakers aren't counting out another magical season from Jackson in Baltimore. The Ravens as a team averaged 5.5 yards-per-carry, and led the league both in total rush yards with 3,071, but also in yards-per-attempt. Jackson accounted for just under 1/3 of the team's rushing yards with 1,005, giving him back-to-back seasons of over 1,000.

The league's evaluators may still be getting used to Jackson, but when it comes to Vegas, the books have already recognized how valuable he is at the most important position.
