Vegas Expects Angels to Miss Playoffs Despite Having Two MVP Favorites on Roster
By Joe Summers
With Mike Trout, Anthony Rendon, and the reigning AL-MVP Shohei Ohtani, the Los Angeles Angels have a ton of star power.
That star power hasn't always translated to wins, though, as the Angels haven't made the playoffs since 2014. They haven't had even one measly win in the playoffs since 2009, so it's been quite a while since Los Angeles was able to celebrate some team success.
Vegas doesn't seem to think that's changing anytime soon, either, as Angels have the top two American League MVP favorites but aren't expected to make the playoffs.
Angels MVP Odds
WynnBET Sportsbook has Shohei Ohtani (+400) and Mike Trout (+425) as the two favorites to win the American League Most Valuable Player Award.
Ohtani is trying to become the first back-to-back AL MVP winner since Miguel Cabrera in 2014, while Trout is looking for his fourth MVP trophy.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr is close behind them with odds of +475, while Wander Franco (+1500) and Aaron Judge (+2000) round out the top five.
Angels Playoff Odds
But Los Angeles' playoff odds aren't quite as rosy. The Angels are listed at +1200 to win the American League Pennant at WynnBET for the eighth-lowest odds in the league. Only six teams can make the playoffs, and the Angels' win total (84.5 at WynnBET) would put them outside the playoff picture, as no team has made the playoffs with only 84 wins since 2008.
In their own division, the Astros (+525) and Mariners (+1000) have better odds to win the AL Pennant, so the Angels will likely need to overcome at least one of those two teams to make the playoffs.
They've got arguably the two best players in the league though, so they certainly have the talent to do it. If you believe in the Angels' chances to finally break through, head on over to WynnBET and lock those futures bets in now before the season officially gets going.
