Yesterday, Xavien Howard let the Miami Dolphins know that he doesn’t want to be there anymore. Howard sent out a statement explaining why he wants out after the organization failed to cooperate with his desire for a new contract.

He feels he’s outperformed his current deal and that Miami has not attempted to compromise to get him a new one.

Despite asking for a trade, WynnBET doesn’t see Howard wearing a different uniform in 2021. None of the Dolphins’ odds for wins, making the playoffs or to win the division have changed.

Miami is still -169 to miss the playoffs and +140 to make them. Along with those odds, Miami is still projected to finish third in the AFC East with +340 odds. Lastly, the Dolphins still have a projected win total of 9.0 games, with the over (-140) favoring the under (+120).

Howard is an All-Pro corner, grabbing 10 interceptions last season. If he left the team, that defense would suffer and so would the team at large. The Dolphins’ odds don’t show that he is on the move anytime soon and head coach Brian Flores’ words express the same thing.

“I guess the plan is to continue to have discussions on our part, continue to have talks with him and his representation,” Flores said to the Miami Herald. “We love X. He’s a good player. He’s competitive. He’s here. He’s showing up. We expect him to contribute the same way he has. He was out there [on Tuesday], passed his conditioning test. He’s in good shape. We’ll understand his concerns, and we’ll just try to work through this as best we can.”

Howard is requesting a trade the same day that Aaron Rodgers returned to camp after saying he'd never play for the Green Bay Packers again. While they play different positions, Rodgers may have set a precedent Howard doesn't want to follow, which is just show up and play.

Between the Dolphins trying to focus on Tua Tagovailoa’s growth and trying to get their star player back on good terms with the organization, Miami has a lot to deal with.

Howard said that he is just there to not get fined, but the odds suggest that his talents will be staying in South Beach this fall.
