Vegas Points to Will Fuller as No. 1 Option for Dolphins Despite Suspension
By Peter Dewey
The Miami Dolphins made sure to get some weapons for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa this offseason, and it appears that Will Fuller is expected to lead the Dolphins’ passing game in 2021.
Fuller, who was brought in as a free agent, has to serve the final game of his six-game suspension that he received last season for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.
WynnBET has Fuller (+10000) with the best odds to lead the league in receiving amongst the Dolphins' top pass catchers despite the suspension. Rookie Jaylen Waddle (+20000) and last year’s top receiver DeVante Parker (+20000) are significantly behind Fuller on the odds list.
Fuller had a huge year in 2020 with the Houston Texans before missing the final five games due to the suspension. The 27-year-old had 53 catches for 879 yards and eight scores in just 11 games. To put it in comparison, Parker had just 793 yards receiving last season in 14 games.
While Waddle is a bit of a wild card, Fuller is clearly the most proven of the Dolphins’ pass catchers. Still, his success will depend on how well he can mesh with Tagovailoa.
Waddle played with Tagovailoa in college at the University of Alabama and Parker obviously spent last season with him. Fuller has to establish that connection, and it may take some time for that to get going since he cannot play in Week 1 of the season.
WynnBET has the Dolphins with the third-best odds to win the AFC East at +340, but they aren’t far behind the New England Patriots (+320) for the second-best odds in the division. Still, Miami’s success will depend a lot on just how good its revamped offense will be.
The Dolphins are looking to improve on last year’s 10-6 finish, but WynnBET has them projected to win 9.0 games in 2021 with the over (-140) favored to the under (+120) signaling that they’re likely in line for a similar finish this season.
