The start of the 2022 MLB season is a couple of weeks away and now is the time to start making those final preseason wagers. One that has been on my mind for quite some time has been the Baltimore Orioles' win total for the upcoming season.

The Orioles will be happy to get started on another year and put the disaster that was 2021 in the rearview mirror. The Orioles were horrid last year and won just 52 games and finished tied with the Arizona Diamondbacks for the worst record in the league. But, oddsmakers are not so sure that the Orioles will see any type of real improvement on last year. That is because their season win total at WynnBET Sportsbook currently sits at 61.5.

While the books seem to think the Orioles somehow win 10 more games than last year, it's still the lowest projected total in the majors this year.

So, are the Orioles a good bet to bounce back after another poor year? Not a chance.

The Orioles are a bad team. Really bad. And I wouldn’t bet a nickel on them to go over this total. The rest of their division is all contenders for the AL crown and the Orioles are just cannon fodder for the AL East. The Orioles had the worst ERA in the league last year at 5.85. They haven’t upgraded their rotation in any meaningful way and I expect another sad year from this crew.

The Orioles took a unique approach this offseason for a team that needs help top to bottom. They didn’t do a damn thing. The O’s signed Freddy Galvis to be their new starting shortstop to a $1.5 million contract for the season. That’s pretty much it. Orioles fans that are still left watching these games will see a lot of familiar faces from their 52 win season. That can’t feel good.

As a result, the Orioles again have one of the lowest payrolls in the league. They seem to be focused more on saving money at the expense of wins for now. I don’t see a way this team wins more than 60 games this year and will bet accordingly.
