The New York Jets seem to think they have their quarterback of the future in Zach Wilson, but Jets fans shouldn’t expect to find success quite yet.

WynnBET has recently released projected win totals for all 32 NFL teams, and they have the Jets number set at 6.5. Not only that, but they have the under set at the -150 favorite with the over set at +125.

The Houston Texans and Detroit Lions are the only teams in the league with a lower projected win total than the Jets.

While it won’t be difficult to improve on a 2-14 season, rebuilding the team will be a long term process and certainly not a one year turnaround.

The Jets selected Zach Wilson with the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, opting to go for the BYU QB instead of other potential quarterbacks including Trey Lance, Justin Fields and Mac Jones.

New York also hired new head coach Robert Saleh, who has previously served as the San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator. Saleh played a key role in the 49ers’ 2019 Super Bowl run, which fell short when they faced Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the big game.

There are certainly positives to look forward to for the Jets fanbase, but a new QB and head coach isn’t going to fix all of their problems. New York ranked near the bottom of almost every important statistic on both sides of the football during the 2020 season.

The Jets finished dead last in points per game, managing to only score an average of 15.2. They were also 26th in opponent points per game, allowing teams to score an average of 28.6. Needless to say, they were 32nd in average scoring margin at minus-13.4.

WynnBET has the Jets' odds of making the postseason for the first time since 2015 set at +425.

On the bright side, at least they aren’t the betting favorite to be the last team to win a game in the 2021 season.
