Veronika Kudermetova vs. Daria Kasatkina 2022 French Open Prediction and Odds (Bet Kudermetova as Underdog)
By Reed Wallach
Two surprises from Russia meet in the quarterfinals of the French Open.
Daria Kasatkina has destroyed the competition en route to her best result at a Grand Slam to date. She will face fellow countrywoman Veronika Kudermetova, who is a decorated doubles player but this is also her best singles result to date.
Kasatkina is a substantial favorite, but is it warranted given her lack of familiarity in this setting? Let's check out the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook:
Veronika Kudermetova vs. Daria Kasatkina Odds, Spread, Total
Spread:
- Kudermetova: +3.5 (-120)
- Kasatkina: -3.5 (+100)
Moneyline:
- Kudermetova: +155
- Kasatkina: -195
Total: 21.5 (Over -110/Under -110)
Veronika Kudermetova vs. Daria Kasatkina Prediction and Pick
Kasatkina has been on a roll at Roland-Garros, but I'm not interested in backing her at this steep of a price. Kasatkina has dropped just 14 games on her way to the quarters while Kudermetova rallied to beat Madison Keys in the round of 16, 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 and benefitted from a second set retirement from Paula Badosa (worth noting Kudermetova took the first set).
While it appears all signs are pointing towards Kasatkina, I'm going to bank on some regression on break points. She saved all 6 break points against Camilia Giorgi in the round of 16 and has been putting her first serve in over 70% of the time through this campaign. I think we see some regression on the big stage and Kudermetova is live for an upset.
I lean towards taking the juicy + money price, but a play on the game spread works as well if you want a safer wager.
LEAN: Kudermetova +155
