The race for the Vezina Trophy in the shortened 2020-2021 NHL season was a tight one. Marc-Andre Fleury of the Vegas Golden Knights was the eventual winner, but strong arguments were made for others including Andrei Vasilevskiy, Philipp Grubauer, Connor Hellebuyck, and Semyon Varlamov.

The Vezina Trophy is awarded to the top goaltender in the NHL during the regular season.

After a strong NHL playoffs, Vasilevskiy was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as he led the Tampa Bay Lightning to their second consecutive Stanley Cup victory. As a result, Vasilevskiy is set as the betting favorite at WynnBET to win his second Vezina Trophy at +400 odds. He also won the award in the 2018-2019 season.

Here are the top 10 goalies on the odds list at WynnBET to win the Vezina Trophy in the upcoming 2021-2022 NHL season.

We’re Destined to See a Repeat Vezina Trophy Winner

The majority of the goalies on the above list have previously won the trophy, and are looking for a second to add to their trophy case. Vasilevskiy, Fleury, Hellebuyck, Price, and Rask have all taken home the award prior, but none have won it a second time. The last goaltender to win two Vezina trophies was Sergei Bobrovsky in 2016-2017, after having won it previously in 2012-2013.

Price led the underdog Montreal Canadiens to the Stanley Cup final with stellar play in between the pipes, but his regular season statistics have always dragged compared to his postseason numbers throughout his career. He has a career goals against average of 2.50 in the regular season, and a save percentage of .917. Those numbers get boosted to 2.39 and .919 in the playoffs. If he can carry his postseason success into the regular season, he’s a strong candidate to win his second Vezina trophy this year.
