The Minnesota Vikings played in another overtime game in Week 9, falling to the Baltimore Ravens 34-31. It was their third overtime game of the season, as they’ve played in nothing but close matchups in 2021. All but one contest has been decided by a touchdown or less. The only game that was decided by more than seven points was their Week 3 win over the Seahawks that finished 30-17.

They head to Los Angeles to take on the Chargers in Week 10 action. Justin Herbert and company will look to win their second straight game after downing the Eagles 27-24 last week.

Vikings vs. Chargers Prediction and Pick

Whatever team decides to run the ball more, will win this game. The Chargers remain the worst team in the NFL in stopping the run, allowing teams to gain five yards per carry. The Vikings aren’t much better in that area, allowing an average of 4.8 yards per rush which ranks 30th in the NFL.

Considering the Vikings are much more willing to run the football, I’m going to back them to cover the small 2.5-point spread. 40.98% of the Vikings called plays are on the ground, which ranks 17th in the NFL. Meanwhile, the Chargers have the sixth lowest rush rate in the league at 35.77% of their plays.

The Vikings are also more effective at running the balls, averaging 4.6 yards per carry compared to the Chargers at 4.4.

It’s a tough bet to make in what promises to be a close game, but I’ll back the Vikings and the points.

Pick: Vikings +2.5
