Vikings vs. Lions Updated Odds and Prediction: What Bettors Need to Know
By Matt De Saro
It is time again for our “will the Detroit Lions win a game this week?” debate. This week, the Lions may have a decent chance in Week 13 with a home game against the 5-6 Minnesota Vikings.
The Vikings are coming off a 34-26 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, and suffered another loss in that game with Dalvin Cook being carted off the field. Most reports expect Cook won’t be playing on Sunday, but the only person who seems to think otherwise is Mike Zimmer.
Meanwhile, the Lions were so close last week to that elusive first win. They lost to the Bears 16-14 and was the third time this season they have missed a win by two points or less. With games upcoming against the Broncos, Cardinals, Falcons, Seahawks, and Packers, this might be their best shot to avoid an 0-17 year.

Vikings vs. Lions Prediction and Pick
While the Lions will not have to deal with the Vikings' best running back, Detroit will also be without theirs.
D’Andre Swift missed practice yesterday and is expected to miss multiple weeks with a shoulder sprain. With Swift on the shelf, the Lions will turn to Jamaal Williams in this game. Dan Campbell straight up said that they will be leaning on Jamaal “quite a bit.”
Williams is averaging just 4.2 YPC and has less than 100 attempts on the season. The fourth-round pick from 2017 will be pushed, but ultimately won’t see much success in my opinion.
Even with Cook out, the Vikings have a dangerous passing attack between Kirk Cousins and receivers Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen. I would normally take a team like the Vikings here but they have won just one game this season that wasn’t decided by a single score, and that just doesn’t sit well with me. I don’t think the Lions ultimately find a win here, but another cover is certainly doable.
Prediction: Lions +7 (-110)
