Villanova is back in action after being manhandled by Baylor on the road last Sunday, 57-36, one of the worst performances the program has had under Jay Wright.

The team must refocus quickly as they open Big East play against a mercurial Creighton team on the road, who has beaten the likes of BYU, but also lost to Iowa State and Arizona State over the past two weeks.

Let's break down this conference matchup with odds courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Villanova vs. Creighton Odds, Spread and Total

Spread:

  • Villanova: -6.5 (-110)
  • Creighton: +6.5 (-110)

Moneyline:

  • Villanova: -280
  • Creighton: +220

Total: 130.5 (Over -105/Under -115)

Villanova vs. Creighton Prediction and Pick

While many associate Creighton's offense with high octane, perimeter-oriented ones, this is not the Greg McDermott teams of old. This is one of the youngest teams in the country that are generating a ton of looks from inside, shooting 58% on two-point shots (No. 9 in the country).

This may be a problem against Villanova's extended zone that should make entry passes difficult. This is a veteran Nova squad that is turning opponents over on about a fifth of their defensive possessions. Creighton is turning it over at a similar number, 242nd in that metric.

If this becomes a shot making contest, Wright's team is in line to roll. I don't trust the inexperience of Creighton to switch with Villanova's deadeye shooters that are shooting nearly 38% as a team on a top 10 three-point rate.

This has been a strong spot to back Villanova in recent history. Since 2011, Nova is 41-29-2 off of a loss and I see them overwhelming Creighton despite being considerable road favorites.
