Everyone knows that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is having a breakout season for the Toronto Blue Jays, but what you might not realize is that he has a shot at becoming the first person since Miguel Cabrera in 2012 to accomplish the rare Triple Crown.

The Triple Crown is awarded to a player who finishes the season leading Major League Baseball in batting average, runs batted in and home runs. Before Cabrera achieved it in 2012 with the Detroit Tigers, it hadn’t been done since Carl Yastrzemski in 1967.

As of today, July 19, Guerrero Jr. leads the Majors in batting average (.332) and runs batted in (78), but trails Shohei Ohtani for most home runs by three. Ohtani leads the Majors with 34 dingers, followed by Guerrero Jr. with 31. Fernando Tatis Jr. of the San Diego Padres is third on the list with 28.

WynnBET has odds listed for who will finish the MLB season with the most home runs, and it appears to be a two man race between Ohtani and Guerrero Jr. Ohtani is currently the +155 favorite, with Vlad close behind at +175. This means that Vegas is giving Guerrero Jr. an implied probability of 36.36% to finish the season with the most home runs.

Guerrero Jr. holds a slight lead over Nick Castellanos for the top batting average in the Majors, as Castellanos is only .002 behind him. Meanwhile, Vlad has a four run lead on Ohtani in the runs batted in statistic.

It would be quite the feat for the 22-year old, and it would be even more impressive if he was able to help lead the Blue Jays to the postseason for the second straight season. He’s also listed second on the odds list to be named American League MVP at +200 odds. Ohtani is the current favorite at -370.

The Blue Jays are set to begin a four game series against the Boston Red Sox tonight.
