The North Carolina Tar Heels host the visiting Wake Forest Demon Deacons in Week 10 for some in-state rivalry action.

Wake Forest continues to separate itself from the rest of the ACC with a flawless 8-0 record as the only unbeaten team in the conference. The team has been led by Sam Hartman under center and both he and his team have looked stronger each week. They are coming off a big conference win over the Duke Blue Devils in Week 9.

The defense looked good as well after getting roasted by Army a week ago. Wake is also on a two-game ATS win streak heading to Kenan Stadium. UNC will be looking to rebound from a 44-34 loss to Notre Dame and will have bowl eligibility on their mind as the season winds down.

Wake Forest vs. North Carolina Prediction and Pick

Heading into Week 19, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons are the only truly dominant team in the ACC. Despite this, they are 4-4 ATS on the year and therefore are not as dominant at covering spreads. They are the only team I would trust to bet SU weekly, but ATS is a dicey wager on this team. Though, they did cover their lone game as a road underdog +2.5 against Virginia.

This will no doubt be the toughest game of the season for Wake Forest. It will be interesting to see if it will live up to its No. 10 ranking, or fall to a 4-4 UNC team who is currently third in the ACC Coastal standings.

I think the key to victory for UNC in this game will be the legs of Sam Howell. The Tar Heel’s QB passed for 341 yards and a touchdown last week against Notre Dame. He was also the team’s leading rusher and even added a TD of his own. If Howell can get going on both the passing and rushing attack, Wake will see their undefeated season come to a grinding halt.

However, that is not how I see this game going. Sure, UNC would love to play spoiler to Wake’s season, but I think the Demon Deacons do enough to go into Chapel Hill and win their 9th game straight.

Prediction: Wake Forest +125 to win
